Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is a prestigious public university located in Shanghai, China, affiliated with the Ministry of Education of China. It was founded in 1896 as Nanyang Public School and renamed Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1959 after a split that created Xi'an Jiaotong University. SJTU is a member of the C9 League and is part of major national projects such as Project 211, Project 985, and the Double First-Class Construction Project.
