The whole problem started when certain countries do not follow the standard procedure for tackling pandemics. Which is to quarantine people and avoid mass infections so as to avoid mutations that lengthen the pandemic. Once these rogue countries appear and create trouble, countries like China which is doing the right thing will have all their efforts minimised. They will have to keep segregating themselves from these rogue countries again and again.
But what's done is done. The virus will most probably be with us forever now that it has infected so many people and mutated so many times. Countries will have to decide how many deaths and long-term illnesses can they stomach in the future perpetually. Once a decision is made, they will say that it is endemic (meaning it is with us forever, not that the situation is resolved. That's the definition of endemic) and then people will just have to try their luck and live on.
Someone ought to write a book or article about this so that such rogue countries be condemned and such actions (or rather inaction) be stopped so that future pandemics can be tackled correctly.
