How is it that the original lier gets away with a fine, but the people against whom she made questionable claims are guilty of a crime?

they cannot find any evidence to show that WP leaders lied.
based on their judgement (like a jury team), they decided that WP leaders lied without producing any evidence.

they want the police to investigate because police has power to ask telecom companies or facebook to provide records of their messages.
if police cannot find any hard evidence, WP leaders cannot be charged because our legal system is not a jury system.
