If an ombudsman is such a bad idea, why do so many countries have one?

It is therefore more important for an independent body to investigate. Why is he then bringing in a second level loop asking who will then validate and check the ombudsman?

Another thing we have here is that our civil service is linked to the party that governs Singapore. Our civil service is not independent, CPIB is party of it. Even our President, a figurine at best, is selectively elected...

And then he was trying to say other countries are not as well governed as Singapore and that's why Singapore doesn't need an independent ombudsman? Who is to judge that Singapore is better run as compared to NZ or other countries? By GDP? What about gini coefficient? Freedom of speech? Or that because we have pofma?? Lol

It's actually a bad reply.

Do they ever give a straight honest reply without throwing smoke of their own illogical logic.?

Enough is enough. Vote them out!

Singaporeans wake up!! -- you are not important in their agenda. This is a govt that don't put its (natural born) citizens first.
