Actually, US had been trying to "encourage" its "partners" to "shift out" of China since the Trump presidency, while US own trade deficit is its own making for buying imports more than it can export.

Obama attempted his TPP and "Pivot to Asia" -  Both failed.
So Trump started the Trade War against China.  And old Biden just carry on the same policy...

Then inflation hits Americans, right after 2 years of Pandemic forced US to import large quantity of masks, PPE, ventilator machines, medical protection products....while US importers still having to pay 25% more tariff for Made-In-China products...

Guess who "won' the Pivot and the Trade War over last 20 years ? Rolleyes
