No point in pointing fingers and blaming other parties or each other.  Think why China and Taiwan can land in today's position.  One always trying to bully the other one and the other one always trying to fight back. 

One thing is for sure,  not all humans can be easily scared into submission by force. They will fight back like like when you force the dog to the corner.  Just watch what happens.

Yalor. Must b a way to settle this. Can understand some hates btw them. Y Taiwanese settle in a foreign land. But those r history should rest with those already dead.Keep blaming others is just another Ah Q.  Some 70 yrs hv passed. Can’t go back to the old days and live happily?  What a shame
