Everyone knows Indonesia once up a time ban Chinese language, practices and culture including lion dances during the Suharto era. Today, with the rise of China and removal of anti-Chinese law, local Chinese are back with vengeance in re-learning their ancestry traditions and culture.
That was legacy of Dutch colonisation which segregate Chinese from other Indonesian groups.
