NEW YORK – An “unusually high concurrent spike” of virus cases in New York City, including flu and a mix of Covid-19 variants, led health officials on Friday to strongly recommend that people wear high-quality masks indoors and in crowded outdoor settings.

New Yorkers to wear a mask at all times in public settings – including in stores, offices, elevators and schools, and on public transportation – even if vaccinated for Covid-19 or the flu.

Masks will remain voluntary in most places, however, except in healthcare facilities such as nursing homes where mask mandates are still enforced.

I would recommend that we wear masks in shopping malls, and hawker centres, until we hit zero Covid-19 infections.  It may be a little inconvenience but it is worth the effort......
