They were not Taiwanese fighters.  They were Chinese fighters.  They did not even step foot on Taiwan, but died in their motherland, China.

It was not a war between China and Taiwan at that time.

It was a civil war, and where there was no GE like in Singapore (PAP vs WP vs PSP), power was obtained in China through the barrel of the gun.

At that time, it was KMT vs CCP.  They fought but neither side would say that the other was not a Chinese.  

Please mind your words, and never call the KMT "Taiwanese".  Unlike Tsai English, Ma ying-9 is pro-unification.  

The Chairman of the CCP seldom smiled when he posed for photos with someone.  In this photo, he smiled.  Go figure.

The very fact that the CCP wants Taiwan Island and the people living there back is clearly proof that the Chinese government ACCEPTS all of them as Chinese.

As Chinese, you are a citizen of China.

So for goodness' sake, do not call them Taiwanese as if they are an independent country.  They are Chinese living in the province of Taiwan.
