I have been to Taiwan. It can be a long drawn out battle if China troops land on Taiwan. Reason being when the first batch of losing Chinese land on Taiwan they chase the existing aborigines into the mountains. So likewise if China troops land, Taiwanese can head and hide in the mountains. Remember US marines have a hard time taking those Pacific Islands from Jap troops in WWII? Jap hide in mountains and wage a long protracted war against US marines. Mountains are natural defenses and with some caves dig in can hide unless China invent weapons that can level flat a mountain?!?! Atomic bomb?
