Those politicians who constantly stir hatred for Japan in certain countries do itbfor nationalistic purposes to provoke anger in the people and stir emotions. Japan has surrendered 80yrs ago after Americans dropped 2 Atomic bombs on them. After that they rebuild their economy and by the 1980s became 2nd strongest economy in the world. Singapore invited Japan to invest in Singapore and their multinationals provided many jobs for Singaporeans. Yes they committed hideous crimes in ww2 by a previous generation...we won't forget but should not use it as a political tool. 
We do not stir up history to provoke anger and nationalism like they constantly do in China to externalise problems caused by poor leadership
