Every hawker centre, food court and coffee shop has peepur eating alone, both men and women.  You just observe during dinner hours.

Some are Malaysians who work here and rent a room, live alone, or with a roommate.

Some are sinkies who are single.  If you are a man, just find a table with a woman eating alone.

You:  有人坐吗?
Observe how she responds...

1.  Shy. Shakes her head, shyly, smiles a bit
2.  She shows signs of not being very happy to have to share the table with you.
3.  She does not seem to understand what you said (could be Vietnamese, Burmese who look like a Han)

The second one is a turn off. The third one...up to you, if you think you are on with a FT-bu.

You:  Is it nice (eyes looking at what she's eating.
Listen to her responses,  Is she happy to reply, friendly...or stuck up?

So many ways to start a conversation, SgBuffet.
