Even within S'pore, if you are poor, others will look down on you. If you are rich, others will envy or even hate you.

If you are rich, some will hate you as you said because they see an inequality. The inequality could be due to their own doing or their circumstances but there's no point reasoning it out with them.

Some will not hate you but treat you like a demigod.
