U.S. Navy warships used missile interceptor for first time in combat over weekend defending Israel from an unprecedented Iranian attack.

Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro said American forces fired Standard Missile 3, or SM-3, to engage Iranian ballistic missiles. They fired as part of the massive barrage, Iran 300 missiles and drones launched from Tehran and its proxies.

"We've been firing SM-2s & firing SM-6s just over the weekend, SM-3s, is actually counter ballistic missile that's come from Iran," Del Toro said at a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense hearing on Tuesday.

US previously said two destroyers, USS Arleigh Burke & USS Carney, operating in the eastern Mediterranean Sea had engaged & destroyed at least 4-ranian ballistic missiles, although they was not immediately know how two warships shot down the threats. Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro said.
