Ukraine army is using old 1960s Soviet-era S-200 missiles designed to shoot down high-altitude Cold War aircraft was upgraded, or new tactics were adopted, or both. To take down a Tu-22 & two A-50s , this old 1960s Soviet-era S-200 missiles system designed to shoot down high-altitude bombers & recce planes may have upgraded by Kyiv, last 4-mths, a significant progress countering Kremlin’s strategic aviation incidents which Russian bombers were only destroyed while on their base airfields, Ukrainian air forces have showcased new level of expertise by successfully shooting down enemy strategic aircraft directly in the air.

Jan 2024, Ukraine shoot: A-50U long-range radar detection aircraft & also seriously damaged Il-22M, Il-22M is believed have served as a repeater for Russians, it managed to land plane, its significant damage on tail section fuselage. On Feb 23, another A-50 plane was shot down during a combat mission over Sea of Azov. On April 19, 2024, a Tu-22M3 supersonic strategic bomber, carrying Kh-22 & Kh-32 missiles, fall prey to Ukrainian Air Force too. 

All instances, dated Soviet S-200 anti-aircraft unit was used, a long-range anti-aircraft missile system developed in the USSR (1960) can hit air targets at up to 160 km in its early versions.
