All drugs have side effects;  those allergic to some drugs can get seriously ill.  For this reason,  new drugs can take 10 to 15 years before they can be marketed as a safe drug.  In the case of Covid drugs,  the Authorities approved the drug in just months.  They must be of the view that saving lives is more important than ensuring the drug is safe without any side effects.  It would be wrong if Pfizer had advertised its Covid drug as safe without any side effects;  if not,  quite sure Pfizer is well protected under the umbrellas of the approving authorities.

You are right.  Even laymen like us know that all drugs have side effects.  Even paracetamol can produce side effects and if taken excessively will have consequences...

Covid was not a new strain of flu wor.  It was an entirely new disease that doctors, virologists, pharmacists and scientists had no idea about.  We are not talking about Singapore's MOH but the best and top brains from around the world.  The US, all of Europe, even Russia, Japan and China.  No one knew what the hell was going on except that peepur were dying for no known cause, and by the thousands upon thousands.

WHO declared it a pandemic, the highest level of a disease that had run amok.  The pharmas scrambled to come up with a vaccine.  If they didn't, it would only mean more and more people dying because of a lack of a strong immunity.  And it was a very contagious disease which spread like wild fire.  It was an emergency.

We did not have the luxury of 10 to 15 years to test the vaccine.  That's ideal but we were not testing a new and hopefully better drug for an existing disease for which there were some not-too-good medicines already.  We were developing a new drug for a disease which we knew next to nothing about, but which killed at an exponential rate given how fast it spread.

Singaporeans, I am sure, wouldn't need a lot of persuasion to get vaccinated after seeing these photos taken in China, where the government there took the disease very seriously, because it was that serious.
