Jail for hospital worker who did not fix faulty bicycle brakes, resulting in fatal crash with retiree

Although she knew her brakes were faulty, Li Lanying, 52, did not repair them "as there was usually no pedestrians on the road when she used the bicycle to commute to and from work", said a deputy public prosecutor.

Sometime don't speak the true especially to police involved you and victim just say mechanical fault suddenly ; don't know mah....but why police charge her leh ? accident loh

Ms Lim Lei Theng from Allen & Gledhill pleaded for leniency on Li's behalf and told the court Li was trying to avoid Lee on that fateful night.

"They were both trying to avoid each other... it is an accident," said the lawyer.

District Judge Chee Min Ping noted that both the defence and prosecution did not dispute that Li was going at a fast speed during the incident, and that this was an "aggravating factor".

How much it cost her to engage a lawyer?

She does not need a lawyer if the lawyer is pleading for her based on "it's an accident mah"

Save the money and defend herself, the result could be much better

Useless lawyer

There is nothing to plead if the defence is accident, don't need a fcuked up lawyer to tell the judge on your behalf

But yes, she deserves to go to jail for being negligent

My guess is she is truly remorseful

At first the victim didn't die and alive to send to hospital....Just tell police it is a accident . Bicycle travelling at a down slope by nature will be very fast speed got brake sometime also cannot stop in time....

Btw, lawyer from Allen & Gledhill is not cheap at all, A&G is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, firm in Singapore. Shan ge was SC there.

Where this China lady get the legal funds from huh?
