Not recommended as the grant one can get from a BTO vs a resale HDB is not enough to cover the risk of not getting back a similar job and loss of income during unemployment.
I know of only one couple who tried this stunt and that's because the wife was just working for her dad's company for relatively low pay.

Got. Not that he quit a job. More like laid off due to arguments with boss (he got the job back later) so he took the opportunity to get an EC. His salary is too high for HDB flats so he has to wait out 12 months before getting it.
