Since time immemorial, doctors and food specialists have recommended oat meals to combat high cholesterol.

These days there are lots of contrarian views regarding super foods which have been taken hugely for good  health.

Social media, Internet etc have made things very confusing.
One day positive,  another day negative....who should we follow?

The doc already said, you can do blood test will know your chlorestrol level has improved or not before and after eating.

The content highlights of the video titled "吃燕麥片前請三思,柏格醫生 Dr Berg - YouTube" are as follows

The speaker discusses three important points about oatmeal that are often overlooked.
Some studies show that oatmeal can have positive effects on cholesterol and blood sugar levels, but these benefits are compared to white bread, which is not a healthy option.

The studies also mention that the beta-glucan compound found in oats may have cholesterol-lowering effects, but consuming isolated beta-glucan may not have the same effect as eating whole grains.

Studies involving participants with diabetes did not show any significant changes in blood glucose levels.
The speaker suggests personally testing blood sugar levels after consuming oatmeal to determine its effects.

Oats are generally considered gluten-free, but they contain a type of gluten called avanin, which can cause inflammatory responses in some individuals, especially those with irritable bowel syndrome or celiac disease.

Oats may contain traces of glyphosate, a weed killer that is considered a carcinogen by the World Health Organization.
Organic steel-cut oats are recommended over processed instant oats, and intermittent fasting or consuming eggs for breakfast are suggested alternatives.

The video references another video by the speaker on transitioning away from breakfast and the benefits of intermittent fasting.

the speaker does not suggest stop eating oat. only suggest intermittent fasting. so it remains a good option.

don't agree with dr argument.
when one eat food normally will have substance that can convert to sugar. just how easy.
so has to do comparison of food.
oat is good but if a lot then it can come to the same as eating bread.

other thing that i suspect. eat bread with 50% oat may cause stomach not function properly. like it is difficult to digest, and the stomach has got used to white bread/rice for long time. so acid no enough in stomach.
body produce more acid, maybe lead to acid reflux. no study here just a suspect.

any way don't change eating habits too drastically. also as we get old, food is not so easy for the stomach. the mouth department feels good eating, but stomach department cannot handle the same amount or type as before. can lead to many other problems. reduce intake and chew longer. the mouth department gets to enjoy the same while giving relieve to the stomach deparment.

for those who cannot have sugar, some put inside their mouth to enjoy the same and spit out after. do not move it into the stomach department then body cannot get the spike.

For me, I would avoid any farm produce from contaminated land, eg agent orange (dioxin) in some parts of Vietnam and the toxic and radioactive depleted uranium (DU) that US n NATO used in their past war. The affected countries includes Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Serbia and latest being Ukraine and its down wind neighbours (Poland, potentially Germany).
And when possible, also avoid grains n nuts from those countries that use the "popular" weed killers on their crops.

As for oat being not healthy, I still think it should still be much more healthy than polished rice that is pure carbo.
The fear of gluten by westerners is similar to lactose intolerant in many East Asians imo.
For the past hundreds or thousands of years, diet of the latter included wheat (contains gluten) as their ancestors had started farming of wheat n barley way before the Angmohs, whose ancestors were mostly hunters and thus meat eaters n milk drinkers.

And there shouldn't be a problem as long as one don't over eat, like the present Myanmese.
My relative has 2 Myanmese helpers and complains that they can gobble up lots of rice.
Didn't know how much till I see videos of factory workers in Myanmar doing exactly likewise.
Think Myanmar will have serious diabetes problem in the coming decades:
