There are some coffeeshop renting out 1 small stall @ $12k. Their way of calculating rental is based on the number of plates sold. So if one biz is lousy, the rental can be like 2 - 3k for 3 months for one to "test" out.
I was sad when i don't have a pair of new shoes, until i saw someone with no feet...

This is an absolute poor management from the authority …. in the end who suffer ….. resident because no hawker open there and if there is, the food will be priced sky high

Our higher mortals seem to forget that beside cleaning up all the illegal street hawkers one of the main reasons of having these kopitiam and hawker center ish affordable food for peasants. Higher rent will not provide that. 
Maybe one of these dazes we will start seeing hawker going back to the street to sell illegally again.
