It is obvious to everyone who is the price maker when Chinese decides to squeeze the Aussie by banning their imports...
Nearly 60% of Australia's exports to China in the year to May 2024 were iron ore. Losing access to that trade would strike at the heart of Australia's economy.

China is doing to iron ore like they have done to hydrocarbon, soy bean, pork, etc etc imports...Diversify PRC's import sources.
Beijing signed massive deal recently with Brazil iron supplier giants...Thanks to the politics played by Canberra against Huawei and COVID accusations,, the Chinese are "repaying" the Aussies...which now has little card to play with its 60% export dependency on the PRC market.
