Totally ridiculous, expensive and impractical to have battery-powered commercial planes. The costs will eventually be born by consumers.

Technical Challenges:
  • Energy Density: Current battery technology cannot achieve the energy density required for long-haul commercial flights. Batteries would need to be significantly lighter and store more energy to compete with jet fuel.
  • Range and Payload: Electric planes currently have limited range and cannot carry the same payload as conventional aircraft. This limits their practicality for long-haul flights and cargo transportation.
  • Charging Infrastructure: Charging infrastructure for large electric aircraft is not yet widely available. Developing and deploying a network of charging stations at airports would require significant investment.
Economic Challenges:
  • High Cost: Battery technology and electric aircraft are currently expensive to develop and manufacture. This makes them less cost-effective compared to conventional aircraft.
  • Return on Investment: Airlines need to see a clear return on investment before adopting new technologies. Until electric planes become more affordable and offer significant cost savings, airlines may be hesitant to switch.

Infrastructure Challenges:
  • Airport Modifications: Airports may need to be modified to accommodate electric planes, including the installation of charging stations and modifications to runways and taxiways.
  • Grid Capacity: Upgrading the electrical grid to handle the increased demand from electric planes may be necessary.
