That is certainly a good idea since SG has the $ and experience to reclaim the Johor Straits to create a land link instead of building more bridges over water.

However, that will depend on Johor state to accept that it becomes part of the Republic's territory.

I am sure majority of Johorian won't mind, which the KL pple will hate to accept.

So all those sea-view condoms along East Coast Park will be devalued?

Probably. They will still have a view of the reservoir instead of the sea which may be better. East Coast Park will still exist.

Those "60,000 homes" won't be build in the next 30 -40 years (at least) as the reclaimed land will take more than a decade to settle  - Just like the reclaimed land MBS is sitting on now. The Marina-Bay project clearly serves as a very important reference and given SG a lot of experience of not just building high-density properties on re-claimed soil, but also converting large coastal area into a Fresh Water reservoir (aka Marina Bay reservoir)

So the impact to the existing 99-year properties along the EC is certainly not a major concern.

Based on the official statement and its plan map,  one of the key consideration of the project is to have minimal, if not zero impact to the residents, ECP expressway and facilities in EC Park....all key components that also serve link from city to Changi airport.

So yes, it is clear over 90% of the EC will remain untouched.

What is interesting is the "Long Island" starts right from the Marina Bay south area which is still a unused reclaimed land where the underground KPE is.
That *MIGHT* indicate there maybe an extension of KPE along the Long Island (under the sea) to the airport in parallel with the ECP expressway.

They should built around 6 "Bedok"jetty for recreational activities ... like fishing, kite flying, kayaking, dragon boat....

It must be multi functional as some "see no open" can go for suba-diving without gear

Much of the EC shoreline and the Changi airport are man-made with over 15 km strip in the last 50 years.
So I supposed the reclaimation techniqe has been proven.

Certainly Mother Nature will be the ultimate maker of Humanity's fate ..
So how to make Her work for tiny SG ?
And avoid the Natural Disasters we see daily in larger countries ?
What the F can we do about it ?

Simple - Build more resilience and enhance SG suvivability. - Starting from the basics - Water, Land and Food....
Guess what ? All these were achieved with just 1 symbolic mega project that started over 30 years ago...

Not really - his "East Coast Plan" was already a reality - To retire gracefully and let someone younger to takeover from our aging prince-ing Lee.

IMO, Heng's decision might had earned him a few more years to walk on this Earth ...Big Grin
