For every 1 share of CapitaLand you have, you would get
  • 1 CapitaLand Investment Management (CLIM) share worth a book value of $2.823
  • $0.951 in cash
  • 0.155 CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust (CICT) units worth $0.328

Stock price double from $2 to $4 over 20yrs.
This is a return of 3.5% compounded per annum ....if our include dividends the return goes up to 7% per year.

If one reinvest the dividends back into the stock. You would have total returns of 300% in 20yrs much more than the gains from stock price alone.

As a strategy, dividends reinvestment can amplify your stock returns by alot. Use this simple method well

If you sell you get $4 cash per share.
If you hold you will get $4.10 value combined.

If you have small amount you may end up with odd lots that is hard to selloff later that's why some people sell now at $4 when the total value you receive is $4.1 but consists of odd lots...

For example every lots you hold you will get 155 shares of Capital Commercial Truts.  How are you going to manage 155 shares?

Then ok lor. I sold at 4.09 a few days earlier as I don't wish to hold odd lots. They actually allow odd lots trading for a few weeks after the new shares came out but only through certain brokerages. I am not using those so I decide to sell.

If small amount better off just sell. Because if you get odd lots you are subject to minimum commission of ard $25...which make it not worth holding.

If more you should hold because you gain that extra 2.5%. Because the amount of odd lots is small compared with your holdings.

Anyway there was good opportunity to buy SPH at $1.86 a few weeks ago because value after restructuring is $2.1 means you gain 10% holding through the restructuring/delisting...if you buy now at $1.94 you van still gain 8%.

Wise decision, people were urged to buy Capitaland in the past few months, what a trap!

Not really a trap. After the restructuring plan was announced, if you buy around 3.50-3.70 after it dropped from a high of 4.01, it is still profitable.

You can’t go back last year to buy cheap shares at $3.6 level.

Huh? You can get 3.50-3.70 from May to Jul this year. Nothing to do with last year.

Yah. But that was not the conversation was it? You were saying earlier for the last few months capland was a trap. I was just saying that it was not if you buy around May to July. That was my point. Nothing about going back into the past and buy.
