Iran is under severe sanctions
Iran must spend wisely on the best deterrence against the USA
Air defence is very expensive & can't cover 100% of airspace for a large country the size of western Europe. And its useless to protect airspace over vast deserts where nobody lives.
Iran pour money into missiles. Not the best solution. Not designed to leave the defence intact in an assault from USA + Allies. But to give a bloody nose & survive against the odds.
