China's 🇨🇳 scientists found ways to make Water from Moon dust.

Cool

Researchers found that the Solar Wind has irradiated the minerals in lunar soil for billions of years and stored abundant hydrogen.

When heated to high temperatures, the hydrogen reacts with the iron oxides in the minerals to form elemental iron and large amounts of water.

The Chinese  confirmed that 1 g of molten lunar regolith can generate 51-76 mg of water. "In other words, 1 tonne of lunar regolith can produce more than 50 kg of water, which can meet the daily drinking water needs of 50 people per day," said Wang Junqiang, a professor at the NIMTE

Based on their reseach findings from 2020 Chang'e 5 return sample, the Chinese proposed using the Sun energy to breakdown moon regolith into iron-oxide and H2O...

Basically this is like reversing the chemical reaction that had been naturally occurring on the Lunar surface under billions of years of Sun exposure.

It is because of "thinking" that one can confirm with FACTS.

The problem is not everyone bothers to "think"  Big Grin

Western scientists already demonstrated this water extraction method and published a scientific article in 2021. Quite sure there r other findings

NASA also found possible to make water vapour using lunar regolith in 2009, about 15 years ago

Was THINKING about the Relation of  Water and Humanity..

It seems through out History, those civilisations that has either gone or disappeared were those that failed in finding and controlling Water resource...

So in order for Humanity to thrive beyond Earth, it is obvious the 1st skill set to master aside from oxygen and food is extraterrestrial  H2O Big Grin

Errr,,,Please read the report details - NASA test objective is find ways to generate O2 , not H2O.

Also the report says NASA uses  volcanic mineral from Hawaii, not the actual Moon regolith, which the Chinese team did using samples collected from Chang'e 5.

Quote:The field test was performed with volcanic ash known as Tephra on Mauna Kea volcano on the Big Island of Hawai'i. The tephra has similar properties to lunar regolith, so that it is regarded as a good simulant for the hydrogen reduction process.
