Myanmar’s Three Brotherhood Alliance extends ceasefire until end of June.
Myanmar’s 3 Bro comprising National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), & Arakan Army (AA), announced it will extend its unilateral ceasefire for 3rd time, until June. Decision aims to support post-earthquake humanitarian relief efforts across affected regions.
In a statement issued on 2 June, they said ceasefire extension from 2 June to 30 June was necessary to allow more time for ongoing relief activities that region has faced considerable challenges following earthquake,& heavy rains exacerbated damage, causing additional structural collapses delaying relief op. Despite 2 mths of effort, aid teams not able to complete their work.

“More time is needed for the humanitarian efforts,” referencing to continuing need for aid that both need to cease-fires. The 3 Bro-hood Alliance previously declared a month ceasefire in April & May to allow for relief work, but due to the scale of the devastation, a 3rd extension was seen as essential. The ceasefire extension came on heels of a similar move by the junta. On 1 June, junta announced a one-month extension of its own ceasefire, lasting from 1 June to 30 June. Statement junta emphasized need to facilitate post-earthquak
construction to create a conducive environment for upcoming elections.

However, tensions remain high despite ceasefires. On very day after the junta’s ceasefire extension announcement, 1 June, military conducted airstrikes in Singu Township, Mandalay Region. In addition, a school in Thabeikkyin Township was also hit, resulting in the injury of three women and the destruction of the school building and nearby structures, military actions have raised concerns ceasefires may be more symbolic than substantive, as hostilities continue to flare in various regions despite efforts to create temporary ceasefire zones for humanitarian aid.

A farming communities began fleeing military airstrikes, as regime forces sought to push back Arakan Army troops advancing into this normally quiet corner of northwestern Ayeyarwady Region.

The AA has since attacked numerous points along the Pathein-Monywa highway, a 750-kilometre two-lane road that runs north-south between the Rakhine Yoma and the west bank of the Ayeyarwady River. The military has responded by increasing security and restricting traffic flows, as it seeks to retain control of the critically important route, clashes in Ayeyarwady created difficulties for residents who stayed behind, a young man from Si Kwin village in Lemyethna Township told Frontier.
“There’s been fighting on both sides of Pathein-Monywa highway. A Burmese American woman was eager to bring her siblings over to the U.S. from Myanmar amid a more than 15-year wait for visas. She’d been hoping to reunite with them since the 1990s, during military rule in her home country, so her brother’s family could start a life in the U.S. But a day after she bought the plane tickets, President Donald Trump ordered a travel ban that included Myanmar.
The woman, 51, and her husband, who were granted anonymity due to fear of retaliation, had sponsored her brother and sister-in-law to immigrate to the U.S. The siblings were then were hoping to bring their own adult kids, too, so that they wouldn’t have to fulfill mandatory military service in the country’s active civil war.

In eyes of Syria’s new leaders, foreign fighters who battled alongside their rebel to oust Assad dictatorship are loyal allies “who have stuck beside the revolution.”

Even Sao US Trump saying, in ok. Many of these fighters conjure images of terrorist groups like the Islamic State.
Thousands of foreigners flocked to Syria to fight in multi-sided civil war began in 2011 & lasted nearly 14 years. Some joined groups like Islamist faction once led by Syria’s new president, Ahmed al-Shara, they helped to unseat President Bashar al-Assad in last December.

Now, foreign fighters who remain in Syria have become a point of contention as Sao Trump admin takes steps to warm relations with the country. Over the past couple of months, U.S.A. officials have variously suggested expelling them or excluding them from senior positions in the govt and military.

As Syria’s govt rebuilds its military after the devastating war, it has already begun folding some of these foreigners into the army, according to govt officials, some of the fighters themselves. The defense, foreign & info ministries did not respond to requests for comment on the matter.
Mr. al-Shara’s rebel group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, has many foreign combatants. He now finds himself in difficult position of trying to balance his loyalties to them with his focus on establishing diplomatic relations with countries that want the fighters either marginalized or gone.
His govt were to sideline the battle-hardened foreigners, that could also create internal challenges for Syria’s fledgling military.

The New York Times interviewed more than a half-dozen foreign fighters from Egypt, Russia and Iraq recentlyall said they did not plan to leave Syria. Some have married Syrian women and had children & having opened businesses. They risk arrest or worse if they return to their home countries. Some spoke of seeking Syrian citizenship...good better then in their own country. Tongue

Myanmar anti-coup guerrillas to shoot down a junta jet on Tuesday, declaring a rare victory over air force that has kept them at bay in a grinding civil war. The military swiftly denied claiming, saying jet plane crashed near central village of Min Taing Pin around midday b'cos of “sudden engine failure” while “practicing flight.” Myanmar first lost a jet plane since ousted the democratic govt in 2021, analysts say air force backed by Russia & China allowed to fend off a myriad of lesser-equipped opposition groups. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) -- the armed wing of a Myanmar communist group said their fighters downed plane after 4-days of fierce in central Sagaing region, one of the areas worst-hit by the quake. “Our fighters were able to shoot down an attack jet today. A first in the history of PLA,” spokeswoman said.
Zaw Tun, a member of the local anti-coup People’s Defense Force, said they were fighting alongside the PLA when “our joint forces used machine guns and shot it down.” A local administrator from the rebel-held area, Zaw Htet, said two planes were returning from a bombing run when one was hit as both “flew very low on the way back.”

Images on social media, which AFP was not able to verify, showed opposition fighters travelling towards a flaming wreck in an area littered with metal debris including what appeared to be a piece of landing gear. But the junta info team said in a statement its own security forces had seized crash site & “relevant authorities are continuing investigation on cause of the engine failure.” Big Grin
While junta jets have kept opposition forces largely confined to the Myanmar’s fringes, they have also been accused of striking civilian targets with impunity.
Junta air strike on school in Sagaing region in May killed at least 22 people, including 20 children, said witnesses.

Myanmar on ‘path to self-destruction’ if violence does not end has been no end to the violence, even though thousands have been killed and thousands more injured,” said UN Special Envoy to Myanmar, Julie Bishop, on Tuesday, briefing the General Assembly. “I have stressed consistently that without a ceasefire, a de-escalation of violence and a focus on the needs of the people, there can be no inclusive lasting peace,” she said. Call for ceasefire.

The only path to peace is to bring down the evil military junta, just like Syria. Then the Myanmar people can live without fear and peace. And evil min Ong Lai wil flee just like Assad.

An anti-regime armed group said it took at least 23 junta soldiers prisoner in Magway Region’s Ngape Township this week amid intense clashes in the area.
A representative of Chin Defence Force-Asho (CDF-Asho) told Myanmar. Now on Friday group captured the troops as they were fleeing from junta’s last remaining hilltop base along border between Magway Region & Rakhine State. “All were newly conscripted soldiers from Light Infantry Battalion 113 and 420 bases,” the CDF-Asho representative said. “Although fighting does not occur every day, clashes remained intense,” he added. CDF-Asho, a Chin ethnic armed group split similarly named Asho Chin Defence Force (ACDF) has captured 3 soldiers who fled same base on June 4. The Nat Yay Kan air defence base is located along Ann-Padan road. The recently conscripted soldiers were fleeing from junta’s last base.
