It would be impressive if this article came out when all the previous quarters of underperforming GDP data came out. I don't see any "questions" when GDP data were under forecasts previously, everyone was in agreement with official figures that the economy sux... Now when things don't go their way, out came all these little bunnies popping out their rabbit holes.
Anyway after slowly figuring my way forward on macro economics over the years, my take is this subject is far more technical and complicated then most people expect. I really doubt any layman on the street or the vast majority of these analysts and academics have any idea what they are talking about.
The way GDP data is compiled is so varied between countries that sometimes I'm not really sure if there's any basis of comparison in the first place.

Actually other than the crappy headline which was probably imposed upon by an editor with a hidden agenda, this economist Bernard Aw is actually quite neutral and objective on this subject if you read the entire article.
The problem I have is he's basically just glossing over very entry level economics concepts which I don't think is very informative. Macro economics is really really hard and has severe limitations as a soft science, it's not something that can be discussed in kopitiams or over a mass media article.
Theis is the sort of article that give the misimpression that you really know something after reading when in fact you are likely further away from the truth then before, the classic know a bit thinking you know a lot is worse than total ignorance syndrome.

Actually i trust India numbers more than PRC one. Now they are 3 T now and experts said in 10 years from now will be 10T. Actually, i believe it will be more, can't be only 3x.
