No such rubbish. If you have set a timeline to step down it should be done. Just show you are power hungry and don't want to lose that (my opinion). Will lose the respect of many.

The main problem is LHL's choice of OYK seems to lack the political acumen to actually take over. Despite LHL's best attempts to sweep away obstacles and other contenders, OYK is still struggling to convince the cadres and his fellow 4G leadership peers.
OYK was probably placed in the MTF to give him maximum exposure opportunity to show his leadership to everyone and generate some mass popularity as well. They were probably banking on a quick and decisive battle that can create a strong impression on the MTF. Unfortunately, the COVID fight has lasted much longer than expected and drained everyone's patience and commitment.
It didn't help OYK's wooden approach and the totally uninspiring way he engages his audience ended up generating more spotlight for Mr Nice Guy Lawrence Wong in contrast.
