A live-firing activity was being conducted at Nee Soon 500m Range, approximately 2.3km from the site.

The firing range should have multiple horizontal beams above to catch stray bullets.
The cyclist must be damn "lucky" to be hit by one.

Me guess the round went ballistic after the weapon was discharged by a bo-bo shooter or mishap at the range.  Big Grin

I have witness recruits accidently letting rounds high over the head.

The overhead wooden barrier can help prevent certain high angle rounds, but not when pointed at steeper angle...

BTW, 5.56mm which is the standard ammo for M16 and SAR21, does have some energy to cause some damage on targets over 3km away...
That may explain why the wounded cyclist didn't suffer life-threatening injury and he only seek medical help hours after being shot.
This may be SG's publicly known longest marksmanship in SAF history.  Big Grin

Quote:The operational range of the SAR 21 is indeed impressive. It boasts an effective firing range of 460 meters for point targets ...The maximum range, on the other hand, can extend an astonishing 3,600 meters.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning.

I am not sure SAF still conducts range firing over weekends...Or perhaps the Sunday training are special sessions for those who got F for their marksmanship.

I could be wrong though. HA HA
