Such a bank is not business orientated with such a CEO saying this. As a customer, I wud felt very unsafe putting money there. Sounds like they take more care of their engineers instead of yr money.

Many companies if not all … have backup from their cirtical business. Sometimes not one but multiply back-up system.  One down, it will switch over to a backup or load balance to multiply

With hardware redundancies, recovery of any hardware fault should be fast if not instantaneous.
So I would think the problem they are facing should be data related (e.g. compromised or corruptions).

Yup.. Servers cannot fail since these days all are virtual servers in the cloud.

Gone are the days you have 1 physical server for a specific purpose like access control..

Like what I say in another thread, even if the DC is burnt down, services will not be disrupted since backup DC sites can be activated almost immediately..

Gone are also the days where disaster recovery exercise involved the IT team taking the latest backup tapes of the system, go to the DR site, and restore from the backup tape so that business can continue.

They should have backup data, especially banks. They would have live backup to another redundancies … looks like they can't even boot up.
MAS and IMDA MUST launch an investigation like what happen to SGX. They got the 2 of the big 4s to do an independent investigation and submit a report to the authorities.
