The Pinoy President vetoed US$3.3 billion budget that he said were “inconsistent with the administration’s priority programmes”.
But analysts and stakeholders said the Marcos' veto did not address the alleged irregularities, as the budget still failed to meet the constitutional requirement to prioritise health and education. “It’s legislated electioneering,” budget analyst Zysa Suzara of Manila-based public finance think-tank iLead told ST. “They’re really just fooling the citizenry.”  Mr Marcos said the 2025 budget will promote human capital development, but Ms Suzara noted that this claim is difficult to reconcile with because of the government’s significant reductions in health and education.

(Manila July 2024)  The Philippines is allocating US$4.38 billion for defence spending in 2025, up 6.4% as the country seeks to modernise and boost it external defences. The defence budget, accounts for 4% of the government's proposed spending plan for 2025.  Under Pinoy law, the Education sector will get the lion's share of the budget with an allocation of US$16.8 billion.
