KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 — Jailed former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will step into the witness stand today to defend himself against 25 criminal charges in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) trial. This includes over US$681 million (RM2.08 billion) of alleged 1MDB funds that entered his personal AmIslamic bank account. In case you are confused, Najib was jailed because he was convicted in the SRC RM42 million case; this 1MDB trial is a separate case that is still going on, so anything the High Court decides in the 1MDB trial will not change his status as a prisoner.

Ironically a former is saying , the whole country and the legal system is centred around this 1MDB Case which has only revealed hundreds of millions of taxpayers money lost , years of unnecessary Court time , pain and hurt , weaknesses in the process and prosecutorial weaknesses etc.

Najib: Anwar should understand, he knows what it's like to be punched

Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said MACC’s actions against him in the 1MDB case were like “blindfolding” him in a fistfight.
He said as MACC investigators did not reveal details of the allegations against him, he was robbed of the ability to defend himself properly.

Serdang Heart Centre: RM546 Million Facility Facing Critical Failures?.

The Serdang Heart Centre, inaugurated in December 2022 with a budget of RM546 million, was hailed as a beacon of hope for Malaysian heart patients. Promising world-class treatment and reduced reliance on the National Heart Institute (IJN), it seemed poised to revolutionize cardiac care.

However, just 18 months later, problems have surfaced, raising concerns about the operational capacity of this state-of-the-art facility.

A Series of Failures

During a parliamentary debate on Budget 2025, Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin questioned the Ministry of Health (MOH) about the centre’s performance. Yeo highlighted a startling report from May 2024 revealing that all four operation theatres were rendered unusable due to technical and electrical issues. By June 2024, the MOH claimed three of the theatres were back in operation, yet by July, one was closed again for three weeks.

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s former prime minister Najib Razak told the High Court that his purported close connection with Low Taek Jho was over-sensationalised when other individuals in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial scandal were closer to the fugitive businessman.

Najib said he was falsely implicated in the case merely due to the presence of Low (also known as Jho Low) at his residence.“While I do not deny that, on certain occasions, Jho Low was present at my residence in Langgak Duta, it is important to understand the context of my interactions with him during that time,” he said.

This is not as wild as it sounds. If Anwar could work with his sworn enemy. Dr M Mohamad to unseat corrupt Najib Razak’s BN govt in 2018 & in 2022 conspire with BN’s Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to form unity govt, anything is possible. Remember, after May 13 racial riots in 1969, Najib’s father Abdul Razak Hussein pushed hard for a grand coalition in 1974 & got it with Barisan Nasional (BN). All major parties were in except for Lim Kit Siang’s DAP & the Sarawak National Party.

With most of the opposition folded into it, BN won 1974 elections easily, taking 135 out of 154 seats for a massive 88% control of Parliament. Perhaps PM Anwar is seeking to emulate or even surpass this fantastic feat, this time with DAP in the fold.
How likely is this grand coalition?, unlikely Anwar has said he does not rule out Pas joining the govt if certain policy conditions are met.
In an interview with Time Magazine, published online in October last year, Anwar confirmed that an offer was indeed made to PAS to join his administration.

Prepared to talk
"On whether we are prepared to engage with them, of course we do. And I’ve sent (an invitation) to them ... Yes, I have been open to the idea from the beginning. After all, this is a unity government and we do what is best for our country," he said.
Pas turned down offer at least twice, its hard to resist that persistent temptation to leans on the doorbell incessantly, future election Pas is positioned better than any of other Malay parties & multi-racial but Malay dominant PKR.

Wee slams PM’s refusal to confirm royal addendum's existence

MCA president Wee Ka Siong has rubbished Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s reasons for refusing to confirm whether the former king had made a supplementary order for Najib Abdul Razak to serve his remaining sentence under house arrest.
Anwar had previously told the Dewan Rakyat that he could not answer the question because of a parliamentary rule against sub judice discussions, and because the current king has not granted permission.

If Najib Razak, Malaysia’s most controversial ex-PM, trades his prison cell for the comforts of house arrest under a royal decree backed by “fresh evidence,” the reverberations would echo across Malaysia’s political arena. This potential development could reshape dynamics of UMNO, Anwar Ibrahim’s fragile govt & the broader coalition framework holding the nation together. Here’s what it could mean:

UMNO President Zahid Hamidi would likely seize on Najib’s release as a political masterstroke claiming credit for navigating party through troubled waters delivering for Najib’s loyalists. It’s a lifeline for Zahid to consolidate his grip over the party and project himself as a champion of Malay unity and justice.

2. Najib’s Shadow Looms:

But the release could also embolden Najib’s loyalists within UMNO, particularly those who yearn for his brand of populist leadership. Zahid may find himself caught between managing Najib’s resurgent influence and maintaining his own tenuous leadership.

UMNO and Barisan Nasional: Revival or Ruin?

1. Image Overhaul:

UMNO could attempt to spin Najib’s release as a vindication, painting him as a victim of political machinations. The narrative of a persecuted statesman might resonate with Najib’s base, particularly in rural constituencies.

‘Desperate’ Attempt to Shift Blame: Saifuddin Slams Mahathir’s Batu Puteh Decisions
Pakatan Harapan (PH) secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has sharply criticized former PM Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, accusing him of attempting to shift blame regarding the Batu Puteh territorial dispute, controversy revolves around findings of Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI), alleged that Mahathir acted unilaterally in dropping Malaysia's legal applications related to the matterSpeaking to reporters after a home ministry event in Putrajaya, Saifuddin compared Mahathir’s recent actions to those of a desperate individual. "When people are drowning, they will grasp for anything they can reach. That’s his current situation," Saifuddin remarked, emphasizing RCI’s detailed report should serve as the definitive reference on the issue.

The RCI revealed that Mahathir had instructed Malaysia’s solicitor-general in May 2018 to halt two legal proceedings tied to the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) 2008 decision on Batu Puteh. The ICJ ruling had granted sovereignty over Batu Puteh to S'pore, while M'sia retained Middle Rocks & South LedgeMahathir, however, denied acting unilaterally. On Tuesday, he claimed matter was raised during 2018 Cabinet meeting, key figures, including then Deputy PM Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, & Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, were present. According to Mahathir, no one voiced opposition, he interpreted as tacit approval.

In response, Wan Azizah, along with former transport minister Anthony Loke and ex-defense minister Mohamad Sabu, issued a joint statement challenging Mahathir's account. They asserted that the Cabinet was informed of his decision only after it had already been made. “There was no room for decision-making,” they stated, adding that Mahathir had formalized his directive in writing prior to the meeting.

According to RCI findings, Mahathir's written instruction to solicitor-general was dated May 21, 2018. Directive instructed the legal applications “need not be continued.” This decision was communicated to Singapore on morning of May 23, 2018, before Cabinet convened later that day. During meeting, matter was reportedly discussed under "other matters," by which time decision was effectively a foregone conclusion. The RCI has recommended filing a police report against Mahathir for alleged misconduct. However, dissenting opinions from two commission members have cast doubt on recommendation, raising questions about its impartiality and potential political motivations.

Remarks signal growing tension surrounding Mahathir’s role in Batu Puteh. His comments underscore broader frustrations within PH regarding Mahathir’s recent attempts to deflect criticism. "We'll stick to facts in RCI report. His recent statements are merely an attempt to drag others down with him," Saifuddin reiteratedBatu Puteh case remains a sensitive issue for M'sia, given its implications sovereignty & diplomatic relations with S'pore. As RCI report continues to dominate political discourse, the fallout from its findings is likely to further strain Mahathir's legacy relationships within PH coalition.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari could find himself on the chopping block amid efforts to prevent the rise of Rafizi Ramli in PKR ahead of the upcoming party elections, in what party insiders say is reminiscent of Anwar Ibrahim's failed Kajang Move about a decade ago.

MalaysiaNow has learnt from party insiders that the growing influence of Rafizi in PKR, who is taking advantage of both his position in the Cabinet and the vacuum left by former deputy president Mohamad Azmin Ali, who once defeated him for the number two post, is increasingly being viewed with caution by Anwar.

"Rafizi has increased his influence in the party, especially in Selangor, since the PKR split in 2020 following Azmin's sacking. It was therefore expected he would easily defeat Saifuddin Nasution in 2022 contest for deputy president.
