EPL-2021/2022 Start Today- Who will be the Champion

(05-02-2022, 12:20 AM)Galilo_l Wrote:  MU vs Boro in fourth round FA Cup

MU is not looking good in this Jan transfer window with VDB n Martial out on loan with no new faces coming in... to add more misery Greenwood was arrested for assault n now pending further investigations... Will b a real shame as he needs time to hone his lethal instincts in front of goal...

Liverpool snapped up Luis Diaz  from Porto with MU reportedly also interested... MC has added Alvarez to their scoring department...
Judging from reports these signings seem to b great business well done...

Wolves has added one Kimchi to their ranks  Big Grin

Back to FA Cup... Boro is another bogey team to MU over the years... Cup competitions always spring surprises... if Boro can knock out MU give credit to them... if MU can use this game to fine tune their challenge in their run for champions leag spot can justify their lacklustre in Jan transfers...but is always hard business to do in this window...

Two other FA Cup matches just ended. Both Chelseas and WestHam are held to a1-1 draw at FT against their respective lesser opponents - Plymouth Argyle and Kid'minster. Both matches are currently into extra time.

Just show how they emphasised more on FA Cup than the Carabao Cup...
No giant killing formentioned matches and they won...
Another upset was Wolves lost to Norwich to a goal... may be a blessing in disguise

Late matches tonight

NEW vs EVE
WHU vs WAT
BUR vs MU

MU is away to bottom club Burnley and would need a quick rebound from the disappointing exit from FA Cup... surely they have to win this game when they last met MU came on top with three goals... with season ending in three months time MU simply have to grab as more points as possible for Champs Leag spot... every game from now is a do or mati... the ongoing player issues have to b uprooted else it will b the bane for MU and to content with Europa leag and making it unattractive for top players to join their ranks  Rolleyes

Everton has a good day in the FA Cup after thrashing Brentford with four goals to one...
Not sure was the vibes brought upon by having former Chelsea players Lampard n Ashley in the dug out with DVdB n Alli in transfers... but Brentford is in down hill at the moment...
It would b interesting what Lampard can do at Goodison Park and what he couldn't achieve at Stamford Bridge...
With this loan hope DVdB can show what he can do in midfield... perhaps end season he could b sold to Toffees...

What a massive disappointment for Ralf n MU... they could have taken three points but Burnley put up a strong fight in 2nd half... that's expected of a bottom club... this draw is a real incentive for the chasing pack of Spurs Arsenal n Wolves... especially Spurs whom had three games in hand!
Wasteful finishing sum it all for MU with Pogba scoring the only goal... think they got the wrong central defender in Maguire... he's the weak link in allowing Burnley leveller and the infringement for MU 2nd goal...
A sole point for MU whom dominated n couldn't kill off the game see them drifting further away from title  Sad

To rub more salt WHU won the game vs Watford n climbed over them though they have played a game more

It was unfortunate that MU could not increased on  the lead and secured the 3 pts. Did they have goals disallowed?

Tomorrow  2 interesting matches:-

Wolves vs Arsenal
Liverpool vs Leicester.

Wolves has been creeping up steadily. Would they continue their run on the young gunners?

As for Liverpool vs Leicester match hope Leicester will pull an upset.

Unfortunately Pogba was judged for infringing a defender leading to a disallowed goal

Would luv to have Wolves upsetting Gunners... at least a game of man vs boys  Big Grin at Molineux can see they having a chance to create an upset

Leicester r unpredictable when they r away from King Power... they r strong with power from the king  Big Grin at Anfield Liverpool may take 3 points

Ironically Spurs lost ground in title charge... losing to Soto 2 - 3 early this morning...  Wink
Soto won the match characterised by their players... scoring two goals late into the game to give them a boost up the table...

MU have to buckle up as they play next to Soto at Old Trafford... if they can repeat their virtuous display against Spurs MU will b in for a massive dent in confidence...

I believed MU will tank again when they take on Soto. Soto is quite good as can be seen from their previous matches. They fought gallantly. And deserves the win.

Both teams could have won it n in d end they share the spoils...
MU defence is a real shame n Maguire is way past his best... slow clumsy...though he almost put a header goal... plus Shaw what was he doing... caught out of position... the defence was in fact saved by DDG... it would take some courage for the next manager to find his best defence
Sancho is getting on his fine run but rashy is like a stop gap this season... lucky for MU they were able to play with eleven players with Mctominay playing rash challenges...

A costly draw for MU n shooting themselves in the foot... making it easier for other chasing teams to fill up the top four position... score first n struggle to kill the game off

What a game for Toffees!

A convincing win which Leeds has no reply to the sublime display by Lampard team... if this game is the springboard to climb up d table then MU has to evaluate how Dvdb is being deployed in midfield as he was d architect for Everton win n dominance in the central park...

To make MU jelly another former academy product M Keane headed in d second goal...
Two goals from defence - Coleman the first  compared to MU expensive defence lineup Big Grin

MU regrettably had not been performing to expectation - the team as well as as CR7.  The team were not able to held on to their lead and ended up having to share the points. And CR7 brought in to score goals are not producing the goals. It has been 7 matches now since he last scored against Burnley. Next match will be against Brighton. Hope he can find the net again.

MU now is in 5th position followed closely by Arsenal, Wolves, Tottenham and Brighton for the 4th position.

MU will not win anything this season. Wrong manager and there is no confidence in the team. They have to sell and rebuild this team in the summer.

Today, MU will be playing against Brighton.  MU will be desperate to win this match. I think they will turn the corner today winning this match 3-2 or 4-2. If not a draw @ 2-2.

MU won 2 nil with CR7 breaking his scoring duck after six goal drought games... receiving a pass from Scott and siam three defenders before blasting the goal into d right corner... Great technique goal!
Credit goes to both goalies..especially Sanchez who made some top class reflective saves...
To b frank MU was again on suicidal in the first half with Brighton almost leading from former Welbeck header... MU couldn't find their rhythm and was lucky to find them playing against 10 men... it would b a different game going into 2nd half if Brighton had the player as they played well before Bruno scored late into the game...fine solo goal... again DDG has to save the blushes after denying Brighton a header goal...

Well 3 points grabbed is all that matters n MU see saw back to top four

Tottenham threw a lifeline to the title chase after Hurrikane scored a late header to hand Citizens their third defeat of the season... giving more hope for Liverpool to turn the tide after finding themselves down to a goal at Norwich...
No doubt Tottenham has the quality in their scoring department but they lack consistency when this win comes after three straight defeats... there were some dubious decisions whether the match could have been a draw as Kane was seem to play the offside n scored the winning header ... Kane will sweep one off their feet when he has the right moment to score against defenders n this match proves it... was MC rueful of not signing him in the summer?
Who knows but Conte has the chance to build a good team around him for next season title challenge... if he stands along well with Levy in football terms  Big Grin

Tonight MU is away to Leeds and with 12 more games to go they have to grab all the points available to cement their top four spot... the team has to turn up in full 90 mins and not either half performance... with Sancho finding his scoring boots n Cr7 breaking ducks who will win this match for MU...
Lest not forget Leeds has some credible players to hurt MU if they r not in full control...
Raphinha Harrison n old boy Daniel James...
Ralf has to decide whether he needs to drop Maguire...

Very strange the ManC played with such a high defence line. Some times the last ManC defender is almost at the halfway line. Offside traps don't work well against speedy players such as Son.

MU was fortunate to maintain its position with the help of Newcastle. Newcastle played well last night putting pressure on WestHam with numerous forays into WH half . WH on the other hand loses pocession of the ball too easily and poses no problem for NC.

Tonight match btw MU and LU will definitely be exciting.  LU is on home ground. Let's see whether LU will pose a hard time for MU in winning this match.

This match will test MU. Who is hungry enough will have that extra push in the results. LU is an attacking team so MU will have to be at their best to retain the ball and control the match.
Realistically speaking this season the top 4 is beyond MU grasp. I think they will end up sixth or seventh.

At the beginning of this 2021/2022 season MU first match was against LU. It was an easy feat for MU as they delivered a 5-1 thrashing on LU. And this was without Cavani, Sancho and CR7.  Theoretically speaking, MU should thrash LU with a greater scoreline  Big Grin with the inclusion of Sancho and CR7. But I doubt so.

MU will definitely go all out to win this match. It will not be difficult for them as previous result of 5-1 has shown LU are no match for them.

LU plays with a high tempo and pressing game. Former MU player Daniel James is now with LU. Unless MU performs at its best I don't foresee that kind of scoreline of 5-1.

HT MU leading by 2-0 , courtesy of Maguire and Fernandes.
Sloppy start of second half by MU. LU equalised to 2-2 within 10 minutes. Lucky to win 4-2 by end of the match. They took CR off and replaced him with Varane ( 5 defenders) to try and maintain their 1 goal lead. Good that the managed to get one more goal through Elanga to make it 4-2.

Leeds 2 MU 4

High scoring and intense match amidst a sea of yellows which saw MU almost collapsing in the beginning of 2nd half with quick goals from Rodrigo n Raphinha... both header goals from Maguire n Bruno exposed the frailties of Leeds defence as one can see... substitute raphinha made the difference when he was brought on... to b frank they r good in going forward but as mentioned Leeds don't have a strong defence...

MU didn't panic as they were held by the two freak quick goals... one can see their intent n purpose and didn't give up on the rain soaked pitch... Cr7 had an off day... n thought Pogba had a good game...
Credit Ralf for his astute substitutions by bringing Fred n Elanga... what a return from them... Great tight angle strike from Fred n cool finish from Elanga... no Greenwood... but another starlet in the making... and good to see Sancho making good progress down the left flank...

Hopefully the chasing pack loses their steam  Big Grin

Yup! Definitely  is an exciting high scoring match equivalent to the 1st match of the season with same opponent.

Wolves is still in the chase with their 2-1 win last night against Leicester City.  Wolves next match will be against Arsenal on 24 Feb Thurs @ 3.45am. It will be another high tension match with over 2.5 goals.

MU next match will be against Atletico Madrid in the UE Champions Cup on 24 Feb Thurs @ 4.00am. It will be a tough match.  Ronaldo should have no problem scoring goals as he wld be familiar with European football, their styles of play. If he can contribute to the goals, I have no doubt MU can win against Atlectico Madrid.

Yes tough game indeed vs A. Madrid
Both teams buoyed by their respective recent wins but throw in their mixed results...
MU is away in this first tie and it's easy to state this... forget all about their win against Leeds... its a different ball game as u mentioned...
