as our population keeps going up to 10 millions, more floods will happen.

the govt needs to clear more forests and lands to build concrete housing.

there is no more land for rain water to sink to the ground because everywhere is concrete.

more canals and drains need to be built to drain away the rain water.

"What happens to a Tesla in a flood?

The problem with the Tesla in this situation is that the battery pack is underneath the floor, so even if you don't see any water inside the car, the batteries and motors may have been submerged. That itself could get the car declared a total loss, as those are the two most expensive components of the vehicle.

No world's engineer can solve flooding

PM Lee came, PM Lee saw and now, he's gone.

Most of them know we cannot have a huge population but their interest lies in us having a big population. So you guess which is more important to them? Self-interest or national interest?

I remember early 2000 PUB proudly claim they widen , upgrade the drainage at Bukit Timah. I always pass by there the construction take quite long. EPIC now still can always flood there. Obviously again this happen One side widen the drain, another side keep clearing land build more properties....

There's must be a reason why flooding only occurs at that few areas every time. Did they look into the root cause?

Despite adding so many politicians over the years, yet, no one able to solve flooding within an island area 710 Km2 ..

How long more will they have to take to solve this problem?

Your brain got problem. These engineering problems should be solved by engineers. Those PUB engineers take high pay but cannot solve the problem. PUB got many professional engineers inside. Politicians can only kpkb on the issue.

more canals and drains need to be built to drain away the rain water.

the reason for heavy rain fall is the higher temperature of ocean.  higher temperature means it needs lesser energy to evaporate water into the air.
the right thing to do is to cover part of occean with reduce evaporation.

those area that has flood are a low area. surrounded by higher ground like a bowl. rain fall on every part of land then flows towards the lower area causing flood..  clearing forest does have an impact. however it can be over come if enough area are build to let water seep down to the underground water table. or can dig and build small pond are different level of the bowl shape ground then let the water flow out of the pond slowly. using time to gap the flow of water all towards the low area.  like the valley of jars. jars collect the water during heavy rain and evaporate off over time.

basically two level of ground. 1 for human, 1 at lower level for water to flow. if not build more small pond to act as buffer or bigger monsoon drain.
places like suzhou, venus will have lesser effect of flood as water will go into the water way build. only if a very high tide causing sea water to flow in will hurt.  so yes increased population will stress the land usage. has to be measured. but not the total cause of problem.
