Until now, I'm not sure how scanning a QR code could take away tens of thousands of dollors away from a person. Maybe this could be done but it makes use of certain loopholes. Tell us what are those loopholes.

Also, tell us why certain purchase no need 2-factor authentication. Is it because vendor choose not to have this feature?

Serious lack of info is causing panic in everyone.

I hold this govt partially accountable for this.

It’s not that they did a bad job managing the scams
It’s that they don’t know how to stop the scam

Someone just posted about downloading 3rd party app to buy durian and got scammed - https://sgtalk.net/Thread-Woman-loses-50...uy-durians

By what means do these 3rd party apps allow money to be trabsferred? By taking ownership of  the phone? Why isn't the govt providing more info to us?

Don't download 3rd party app. Only download app from Google play store or apple store.

first of all,

sinkies should know your place,

so long they the ''men in white'' and related are not affected,

it's none of their concern,

do you think they are that noble enough to do anything which does not affect nor benefit them at all?

do you still remember;

the +65 scam callers was brought up by someone when she was greatly affected and irritated by those calls,

and within a short period of time; +65 was removed from local call,

if it ain't brought up by that special one,
do you think the +65 still exist as of now?

next,

the packages from beauty parlour/barber/....
these were used and targeted at those illiterate/elderly/.... ones

do you see they do anything to hurt those businesses which in return minimize their own income?

channel your frustration elsewhere,

so long they did not get scammed,

nothing will be done,

this is SINgapur

you've the right not being protected by those who will only protect themselves

you've think too highly of them

Just form up a few task force between Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia. Once the scammer call certain task force people, detect their location and raid their base.

Panic has spread. Now people will go back to using cash instead of doing digital payment.

How come China can manage this so well despite having an almost cashless environment?

This is a young and thoughtless statement. Would a father teach his young kid to learn how to use chopsticks without telling him he cannot shove it down his throat or poke others? It shows how careless she is.

Winning a 51.69% is not a good win. And yet, they hv a comfortable seat in parliament. West Coast GRC wil be gone soon. No matter how they make amends wil not appease the masses. Looking how that ah neh neh woman behave in patleement can make many piss*off.

Even my friend just scanned a People's Association's QR code from a notice board at a block of flat also found a USD deduction was made from her bank credit card.

Luckily, she found the going was not right and called up the bank immediately to stop and cancel her credit card.

The payment was stopped.

Even Hongkong has come up with a website to educate the public about scams and how to protect themselves. Why our highly paid govt is so slow?
