Syria could be looking to regain the Golan Heights which they lost to Israel during the previous MiddleEast war. Israel never return is due to the strategic nature of the mountains overlooking below. So if Syria enter it could be this motive than really to help Palestine in their own fight. But then both got same common enemy and that is Israel.
