The middle Eastern countries like Saudi want to get paid in USD because they can then use the USD to buy US investments like bonds and stocks e.g. Microsoft Amazon's which have been major winners...
The US$ is also readily accepted by countries with US$ debt to service US$ denominated debt is enormous and will never get paid up....creating a demand for US$
If Saudi collects Yuan....what is it supposed to do with the Yuan? The Chinese capital market is not well developed. There no demand for Yuan for debt repayment.
