Amid a deepening rift with Benjamin Netanyahu, the IDF believes a ceasefire is the best way to free the hostages, and could make it easier to head off a wider war with Hezbollah.

Hezbollah has said that if Israel permanently ceasefire in Gaza, it will stop shooting at Israel so the 100,000 Israeli settlers can return home.

To wage war with Hezbollah, IDF need 6 divisions out of its 12. But there's not enough men to do this & at the same time remain in Gaza & rotate troops for rest.

Best solution for IDF is to ceasefire & call truce.

But if IDF ceasefire, Hamas lives, Netanyahu humiliated.
