Johor-Singapore SEZ won’t affect Batam, Bintan

An SEZ is a strategic area designated as an economic growth center that is typically equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to attract foreign direct investment, boost exports and generate many jobs, and is generally subject to unique trade and business regulations.

It is an old ideology, mimicking HK-SZ. But not at the same scale.
HK and SZ are city of China. Same nationality.

There are significant geopolitical and regulatory considerations between Singapore and Johor Bahru due to their status as separate nations. Border customs procedures can be complex and time-consuming, and national interests may occasionally conflict.

Nevertheless, it serves as an effective strategy in drawing foreign direct investment into both Singapore and Johor Bahru.

One offers a financial hub, a robust regulatory framework, and exceptional infrastructure, while the other provides ample space and abundant natural resources. A mutually beneficial outcome..
