He is mid 20 and start working in Singapore since 18. So total time is about 1.5 years or 18 months.
Salary 3K+ (lets say 3.5K lah). So total salary for 18 months is 63K. Say he spend $500 per month for food and transport, so 18mmoths is 9K. The final saving after food and transport deduction is 54K.

Question is - is it possible to buy a house and a car in Malaysia with 54K?     Thinking

Thinking is difficult, that's why most people judge

It is possible if he want to buy at those remote areas. If he want to buy a hse in KL, then 54k is not enough.

I have a colleague who lives in JB, but comes to SG by bus and then has to catch the MRT to office by 8:30 am almost every weekday with the option to WFH 1 day in the week. He has been waking up at 4 am since he was schooling in SG, so you are not incorrect; it is not a bed of roses crossing the Causeway every weekday as a student and now as a white collar worker here.

One contractor bought over his neighbour’s house and merged with his, so his son’s family can stay together. Another contractor bought 3 condo units for investment, and 2 cars. Both very yaya

The rich are the envy of the low SES. If the wealthy behave humbly, they are labelled hypocrites. If they openly display their possessions, they are castigated by the "have nots". The rich simply cannot "win". LOL!

I know a couple in Malaysia who owns a house and 2 cars. The husband is an engineer while the wife is a teacher. In S'pore, they will be staying in a HDB flat and rely on public transport.

3K is quite a low salary nowadays. Be thankful we got such low-wage JHK willing to work here in such jobs in F&B or warehouses.

Not all earn that amount. One of my uncle HDB sold at 900k++ is to one Malaysian hubby and his wife is a japanese. It seem they hold top management job in SG obviously as average Malaysian working in SG can't afford that amount. Yes they are but usually cheaper HDB resale flat. Cost below 500K++ I preferring PRs Malaysian here in SG as they can buy HDB resale flat.
