In Singapore, however, a simple excuse of not being able to get evidence from other countries is used to let the rich and powerful executives of Keppel off. Did they even ask for the evidence before claiming they can't get it?
How far have we deteriorated to let perpetrators of a US$55M corruption scandal go free?
This is not the Singapore we know. The morality, ethics and integrity are now all gone.
Should prosecute them and sent them to between 3 and 5 years in jail will save not only our leaders but the whole nation.
The Govt must send a clear signal.

This money belongs to shareholders is being used tonpatch their mistakes...while executives get off lightly.
It is highly disgusting they keep spinning this.
In some countries, like Indonesia, you simply can't get a contract if you don't pay that side.
The point is whether the employee of the sg company take out some money for himself.

when in rome do what the romans do...I dont think these exec acted alone ..they have been advices or in some instances have been task for compromises..so they didnt act alone what they did, didnt benefit themselves.

Further what they are doing may not be for their personal benefit but for the company and may be the country also.

Keppel was sued under Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
that already tarnished SG's image
The 6 Keppel Executives let off with mere warning does nothing to clean up this image

I think the blotch up here was we took all the 13 contracts cutting out all US companies. So, those US companies were not satisfied and looking for blood as though they were squeaky clean and dun bribe. Keppel should leave some scraps for other countries to seal their mouths.

Six U.S. Oil Executives Are Convicted of Corruption in Venezuela
The so-called Citgo 6, who had been lured to Venezuela three years ago for a business meeting, were immediately sentenced to prison."
The men — Gustavo Cárdenas, Jorge Toledo, Tomeu Vadell, Jose Luis Zambrano, Alirio Jose Zambrano and Jose Angel Pereira — each face more than eight years in prison. Five are Venezuelan-Americans with roots in Texas and Louisiana, and one is a permanent U.S. resident, according to media reports.
Five of the men were sentenced to prison terms of eight years and 10 months, while one received a 13-year sentence. A defense lawyer, Jesus Loreto, said the five with lesser terms could be released on parole in a couple of years.

It's telling us that a Country and a company business must not be mixed together.
Otherwise, with executive intervention, this is the result..

You may or may not be right
Simple reason is that Singapore cannot compete with US companies on same terms and conditions.
Why?
1 Brazil , a 3rd world country special US treatments
2.US export credit preferential treatment
3.Lower interest rates and cheap financing
4.possible corporate tax concession
5.Only subjected to country Limits.

It's Your personal business...
Whereas KOM is a Govt linked company using taxpayers money..
Profits generated from 13 contracts was S$153 mio.
Losses due to followings..
Reduced income giving bribes US$55 mio
US fine to avoid going to jail US$422 mio
Paid brazil authority penalty US$65 mio.
Any logic?
