据报道，岛内民众准备迎接虎年，但却出现鸡蛋严重缺货的情况，基隆市区一家老牌蛋商原本每天上午8时30分开门营业， 28日一早店面铁门深锁，只留下一个小缝，许多民众看到店内还有鸡蛋箱，纷纷敲门询问，但老板表示，主要是提供给长期合作的固定客户或大买家，不对外零售。

　　报道称，28日上午10时许，大型货车载着一箱箱鸡蛋到基隆许多店面补货，岛内民众看见后纷纷前去询问，但几乎全都扑空。一家蛋商说，现在没有白蛋，只有红蛋跟白壳红心蛋，为避免群聚，中午12时低调开卖约10箱鸡蛋。

I just went to the wet market here in Taipei, the shop that sell eggs is still closed. Simply because the egg supplier had fallen short with supply.

The problem lies with few weeks ago they have slaughter many chickens due to the bird flu symptom found on a few farms. This short fall will last a few more weeks.

While the agriculture minister who manages all their farms had apologised and promised to bring supply ready for the north Taiwan. But his immediate solution is buying eggs from Australia, which will inflate the price here in Taiwan.

Many people are unhappy with the decisions made.
