LHL kenna jialat jialat for "regrettable" comment on food protectionism
#1

Lee Hsien Loong said yesterday it was regrettable that countries had imposed export bans on food thus affecting a consumer society like Singapore.
He only has himself and his myopic PAP to blame for putting Singapore in this quandary.

Chan Chun Sing was praising MTI ( which he then headed ) for having diversified Singapore’s food resources and making them secure at the height of the Covid pandemic. Today his words appear so silly! All your most reliant sources are not going to make a difference when countries like Malaysia ban the export of chicken and India ban the export of sugar and wheat. We can expect more countries to limit the export of essential food items in the months to come. In this new World Order, where the world is becoming extremely polarised, no country can depend wholly on others to provide its food.

This food crisis is a wake-up call to Nations all the world- THE ERA OF GLOBILISATION IS OVER! Countries like Indonesia, Malaysia and India have shown that ultimately governments will impose controls to protect the interests of their own citizens. It is the likes of the Chan Chun Sing / Lawrence Wong / Ong Ye Kung /Tan See Leng who sing from the hymn sheet of globalisation and talk effusively about how Singapore cannot do without foreigners who have been blindsided by a reset of the World Order.

globalization is a gimmick
LHL also a gimmick

Singapore leaders can impose sanction on Russia

Malaysian cannot ban export one item, chicken.

After seeing what happened in Malaysia… food shortage is not caused by war alone. but the reaction to the war..

Malaysia has price control on chicken since last year.. this bad policy alone caused farmers to stop producing for local market and focusing on export.. now the govt cut off their only profitable customer.. guess these farmers will just continue to produce at a loss for local market?

The shortage in Malaysia will get worst…. In 2-3 months time.. we will find new source of chicken…

Look at palm oil ban in Indonesia.. didn’t work at all…. The main cause is again… govt forcing producer to sell at a loss and ban export.. it’s not going to work.

Time to use some of 64 islands to grow some crops and chickens?

Stop chasing artificial growth.
Without enough food, it will lead to war.
This kind most important issue, not in their priority plan.

PM Lee said that? Such a small country yet talk so big. Hopefully, he is not using a Big Country concept to run Singapore.

Food not as important as GDP to them. They will import more people until 6.9m. LHL can warn Sg about food shortage and high inflation but can't do anything. What kind of govt is this???

?? What position does he have to be "regrettable"?

Why must he always learn the stupidity from JoTeo

This time, it is just paraphrasing JoTeo's shameless statement

"It is a great pity" when she refused to tackle the root of the problem

This Lim Tean is a class A clown who lacks even basic knowledge of what diversification means - it's not some magic panacea that can solve every food problem for you despite the whole world's food supply undergoing severe stress.

It simply means that even if fresh chicken is reduced, you can still get frozen chicken, you can still get other alternative sources of protein. The goal of diversification is to minimize the chances of a catastrophe happening due to inadequate food supply, it does not mean your favorite food die die the government must ensure its availability for you.

I can understand such ignorant and childish comments from an uneducated elderly, but certainly not from a highly educated lawyer cum opposition party leader.

To average sinkie peasant, if things get too expensive, we buy from value shop..

Some might say it's toxic, but if Sinkie govt allowed that to be sold in public, how toxic can it be, unless you totally dun trust sinkie govt.. If that the case, what protection do we have that we buy the same from supermarket won't be toxic?

If even average sinkie peasants know to buy from value shop, why is sinkie govt not u-turning on the ban on Russia? After all, average sinkie peasants just want to buy things from the cheapest source.

1. I have served the nation in a combat unit for 2.5 + 10 years. I had fulfilled my duty as a citizen, but has the country do it's part for me?
2. I don't know where the threat of CCP is, but I know the threat of CECA is already at my doorsteps
3. I had been called a CCP, JHK, Pinoy, but they never called me a CECA..

5 years ago no recession
they already open floodgates
to fatten themselves

2 years ago with pandemic
they made it "Express Endemic"
while they drive own cars and social distance 5 metres at home

Now, they increase GST
to make the situation worse for poor and average people

Base on the past events,
PAP sure run road before we can even board the plane!

I think PAP have contingency plans for poultry and other meat shortage in place. Lab grown substitute meats are in place to go into large scale production if necessary. So dun be fooled by Ah Butt's fear mongering...... Rolleyes

Lab meat needs STEM cells to grow and re-produce

After using the Father of STEM for 100 times,

you think that the descendants of your fake meat will still be as safe??
