Of course a degree is worth it most of the time. Usually the exceptions are the sub-standard students in sub-standard universities, and programs such as performing arts for which a degree is not needed. Then, some subjects like psychology are fun to study but quite useless when jobseeking.

If one want to work in civil service, highly and strongly recommended to have a degree. Words of wisdom from a former civil servant who work inside many many years ago as my first job. Can you imagine a super young scholar (maybe only 1-2 years older than you) just come in and sit on top of your boss who have been slogging in that dept for years with so much experience? That is just one of the flaw of their system. You study a lot you are king. You study little you do sai kang. Now is 2023 not sure inside got change or not but I think same. That is why we got umbrage uttered.

To me it is not degree. It is the capability of that person that can earn a lot of monies. No degree but earn big bucks is better than got degree drive taxi for a living for e.g. I place very high on earning capabilities of a person over education. That is me of cuz.

To know a person ability or capabilities you need time to know and understand a person. To hire a person for a job, there is no luxury of that, that why a degree to show, at least at face value that this person is worth an interview based on a testament provided by an insitution. 

Just because you says so, a hiring manager will interview you ...like that he will be damm busy.

Sorry I am not talking about recruiting someone for a job. I am talking about a higher level thinking mindset instead. Some old ppl say got degree means got 文化高人一等 etc. I don't subscribe to all that crap. He no study can but if he can show me he earn lotsa monies (clean monies of cuz) has my utmost respect. Degree to me is just to earn monies. If no degree also can earn monies also ok. I don't prioritize got degree over no degree as who is better. Just show to me who got higher earning power.

Edit: another forum other reader say what about prostitute they no degree but can earn good monies. Then this will depend on each individual what is clean monies. To me prostitute monies is clean monies as they earn with their own effort. The only not clean is they seldom pay taxes to govt but for me working man I need.
