It is common belief among elites and our leaders that they deserve their high salaries status and whatever benefits that the plight of ordinary Singaporeans is to be largely blamed on Singaporeans themselves. Hence little is done to level the playing field resulting in the highest inequality in developed world worse than all our fellow developed Asian countries.
Something cannot be fair and so unequal at the same time.

Like all  concepts "meritocracy " can be exploited to justify a certain state of our society  ..to justify what is and not to improve.

 I kept telling you democracy and meritocracy are all bullshits and can be manipulated. Just look at how corrupted USA has become. IMO communism under a good leader is the best.

I totally disagree that communism js any good and rarely van maintain good leadership....never on record delivered a high quality of life tk the people.

China is a good example. Just compare the lives of the peasants 50 years ago and now is a world of difference. Of course there will be periods of bad leadership like the "gang of four" that hijacked the governing power and caused so much hardship to the people. When things get to the extreme, a new leader will step in to quell the mismanagement and bring normalcy and good lives to the peasant.

We Singaporean living our peaceful life over here. Living in Landed house, Condominium and HDB flat. 
Who is he to dictate who make it in life and who doesn't?

How can you compare Taiwan and China? When the Taiwanese were living well 50 years ago, the Chinese were still living in caves. Further, you cannot use per capita income to compare. 

You must look at the big picture to compare how well China is doing compare to Taiwan. China has to make itself strong to prevent getting bullied and eaten up by the West. Thus, the people must and mostly are happy to sacrifice to make China strong after going through A Century of Humiliation by the West and occupation by the Japanese. So today you just look at how well connected and developed China is and how developed the Chinese military is compare with Taiwan who can't even build a missile on their own and has to rely on foreign power to help. Mind you, the foreign power are keen to help Taiwan not because they love Taiwan, but are actually making use of Taiwan in an attempt to prevent China from overtaking them economically and militarily. China is a world power today, and their spending will be different and more like wasting money to a brain washed DF like you.

But you said China would be better without CCP. How do you justify it? Indirectly, you are saying that if the KMT had remained as the govt in China, it will be in a better state.

His argument may seem sound and even convincing. It is indeed often true that some high SES people who are successful thinks they deserved to succeed. However, I have never met a low SES person who thinks he failed because he deserved to fail. He invariably thinks he failed because he didn't have the luck.

Hence, the fact does not match what HKP says and I question how many low SES people he has met in his life.
