I only know when joining the Malaya federation, SG had to sign a 1963 agreement - which itself is a form of Unequal Treaty...

One of condition is SG had to pay 40% tax to the Malay lords in KL..

And the request to transfer our national reserve to the federation in KL was the last straw that breaks the camel back.

Honestly, I don't think the Malay cares about the so call "brain drain" in Malaysia.
It is never in their interest to stop it. Anyway, out of 35 millions population. The figure is considered low. Insignificant.

58 years ago, Malay domination in Malaysia political ground was the main concern. That's the reason Singapore (Chinese majority state) was kicked out.

58 years later, the surge of Malaysian Chinese interest in politics swelled. DAP became the 2nd biggest party with parliamentary seats. After PAS.
This will trigger another major reaction from the Malay voters and Leaders. Similarly in 1965.

The call for Islamic laws will be getting louder, in the fear of losing Malay domination in Malaysia.

Para One
The Malays aren't stupid but they happened to have been practising Work Life Balance long before the term came into currency.

They won't work as hard as the Chinese. They'd leave time for family, make babies, and for leisure.

You are absolutely correct to say the brain drain is insignificant relative to 35 million peepur. But if you add another word and say Brain and Hardworking Peepur Drain, it's not inconsequential anymore when 1 x 2.5 became 1 x 3.4.

When this went to swell Singapore's GDP instead of Malaysia's, and Anwar is now revisiting healthcare subsidies that had been given even to the rich and after beating around the bush mentioned "bankrupt the country" I think they care but are in a dilemma at the same time.

Para Two
It was not the Chinese majority which they feared.. They could very easily reduce it to a minority by sending Malays over to live there. That's what the CCP is doing in Xinjiang right, flooding the province with Hans.

It was Lky whom they didn't know how to FIX whom they feared. If Lky was a Penangite, the state which would be booted out would not have been Singapore.

LKY was definitely a highlight..🤣
Not only the Chinese but even Malay will be swayed by him.

But Penang and Singapore are very different in status.

Singapore was a self govern state with a elected PM in 1959. Merged with Sarawak, Sabah and Malaya to form Malaysia.

After the Straits Settlements was dissolved in the following year and Penang was merged into the Federation of Malaya.

We won't stand a freaking chance in a SAF vs PLA fight. However, it's extremely unlikely for them to attack us. Yeah, they might impound our terrex but they didn't damage them. In fact they even covered them with canvas to protect them from the elements like a mother placing a warm blanket over her newborn on a rainy night

Malaysia
This one, we can be a poisonous shrimp so they will think ten times before swallowing us which once upon a time they could but now.. hmm.

Now we don't really need the SAF as much as before. We have soft power because a not insignificant chunk of their GDP is generated by the minority race who bring back 1 x 3.4 from here. Destroying us is like chopping away a left leg and a right arm.

No it's not about being ball-less. With China it's foolhardy to fight what is like a Sumatran tiger by comparison. Even Mike Tyson wouldn't fight with a real tiger of that genre. Mike is a coward?

With Malaysia, any war will damage all that we had built up. So we will not start a war but if they fire the first salvo, I believe the 61% will do whatever it takes to defend our country. I'm afraid I have no confidence in the 39% who are just troublemakes.  Rolleyes
Spore vy strategic position. Close to US. In a nuke war. Sure China will fire a nuke at spore to destroy it.

One of the things they taught in the army was to never waste bullets.

I don't think the PLA would waste their nukes on us when there are cheaper ways to make us surrender.. they'd probably reserve their nukes for the big ones like the US and NATO.

Further, a nuke will cause collateral damage to both neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia. China will want to avoid that which means we are blessedly shielded.

Base on his theory.

China needs to nuke South Korea and Japan. Because their positions are even more threatening to China.
Side by side.
And thousands of US troops with nuclear submarine parked over there.

Might as well nuke Taiwan so doesn't need to fight. One nuke all gone and surrender. 🤣

If only it is so easy. Russia will nuke Ukraine by now. Instead of wasting Russian lifes.

Bolehland is hardly a "big" country in any sense or scale given the growth of religiosity in certain countries have resulted in more social tensions and even violence...

Just because Indonesia is down under and she is super big, it doesn't mean that Malaysia is not big.
