I don't think the Johor side will make it if their government put bumis there. In the end it will drag Singapore down with the negative synergy.

But if they put jhks there....and by jhks I mean Han Malaysians, we will see job losses. Our low TFR is now boosted up by mainly jhks but when they can live and work in Johor, why would they come here?

I share the same concern with you.  We need to look deeper before embarking on this Johore-Singapore - Shengzhen-Hong-Kong Style hub.  The former is joint partners co-operation between two countries while the latter ownership is  China. Singapore have to look ahead,  the complications that may arise, the turn of sudden event/relationship of our partners, ensueing effects on our economy. It is not like the China-Hongkong ecomic zone.  Whatever it is don't be screwed like CLOB.

China maybe currupted, but they maintain a stable set of regulations for foreign investors over the last few decades. It is only after Xi taking over control, investors starting to lose confidence. 

Building investment interests with an attractive huge market of 1.4 billion population. Offering a large pool of cheap manpower resources. 10 million graduates annually. Malaysia's market is very far from China's strength.

Although currupted, the government never fails to pump in $billions investment into building its huge modern infrastructure. And they don't change policies every 4 years, after change of ruling party.
