Despite losing some ground to Sydney because of an exodus of citizens during the pandemic, Melbourne is still on track to become Australia’s most populous city, as it once again becomes the destination of choice for overseas and internal migrants.

Melbourne is so crowded now, everywhere you go you see South Asians, all the convenience stores are operated by them, Indian restaurants are everywhere. This is no longer the Melbourne it used to be.

Vietnamese community is huge, Italians, Greeks and Chinese also a lot. People from Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Macedonia. African refugees are growing fast. In recent years Indians are arriving in huge number, despite they arrive so much later than other race, The total number of Indians are now overtaking that of Chinese population.

Unlike Sydney, Brisbane snd Perth, Melbourne is a melting pot of 200 cultures and religions. You can easily find Italian, Lebanese, Somali, Greek, Korean, Indian, Vietnamese, Thai, Turkish, Msian, Hungarian, Jewish, Russian, Yugoslavian, English, Polish and Chinese foods there. While in Sydney there are mostly Asian food and local Aussie food….Italian, Greek, Lebanese and Russian foods are rare. In Perth mostly Msian and Indonesian food.

A$1 million is only worth SGD 910,000 now due to exchange rate, so cheap to most Sporeans.
In Spore 1 million can only buy a tiny little shoe box.

Are you sure? It is no longer the most liveable city, not even in the top 9 for the past 3 years.

Best Place to live? maybe….it drops from the most liveable city to 9th place already.
Best Place to work? no way! There are not many international MNCs have offices there, mostly local companies, opportunities of traveling overseas for business trip is very rare, employees fighting for an opportunity to travel to Sydney is common & laughable!
Best place for play? No way! It is a very boring place, other than watching Footy, gambling at Crown Casino, lying down on the beach and doing gardening at home, nothing much to do!

Of course habits never change since Melborne is blessed with so much water unlike poor SG....
Is that why you migrated simply because of water can't be used as a weapon against Australia ?

If you buy a property(condo) there, when you want to sell you have to sell to the local?
Some condos cannot be rented out, but people just rent out anyway.
