Ironically it is Agong unified Malaysia at this moment.
Anwar is not popular as many has hope.

I doubt Anwar dare to probe BN much further with PN lurking.

Anwar now owe Agong a favour.

Anwar ish indeed popular with many of the peasants wat but not the lich and elites in boleh land, including the royals. Because his ideology will hurt the bottom line of many in this group.

But the royals bo bian have to settle this dispute ASAP as Anwar popularity with peasants are not urban legends, it they ignore the majority supports Anwar have and die die go pick a rival, the people angers may turn on the royals instead. Those royals are not stoopid, they don't see any gain or real benefits in tanking the people anger on behalf of anwar's political enemies even though they themselves don't like Anwar.

Beside with the current composition of the new govt, anwar ish destined to be a crippled PM, so unlikely to be able to push the reforms that he promised effectively and thus less likely to hurt the current sources of $$$ of those royals lah, even have to fix Anwar ish likely to fix his rivals first then have the time and energy to go fix royals first. So to the royals, why not do both anwar and the peasants a favor to give him that post to score some popularity points with the masses.

There was a time when the country asked ordinary men to do extraordinary things.

But now, they'll only do it for money.

Unless the royals happen to birth a very charismatic leader and run for the erection himself to win with majority and push for constitution changes, else don't think ish possible for royals to simply make a PM a puppet to take control, since last time AMDK before giving the independent to boleh land already make sure the constitutions are in placed to prevent them to interfere directly.

So ish more to do with $$$, the royals do control some businesses and probably the largest owners of the lands, especially the lands, in boleh land so not really a surprise that they would prefer a govt that ish willing to close one eyes over their businesses and give easy pass to foreign development projects so they can either be a co-owner, or can sell lands to earn $$$. Like during jib kor era a lot of AT $$$ go into boleh land and jib kor very easily give green lights to approve and expedite, so many of these royals that work with the AT business ish earn until laugh can swim in rmb one. Tiagong last time royals not happy with madhatirs ish also because he don't give green lights to such project as easily as jib kor did and are much strict in allowing these foreign funds to come in, so damage a lot of income opportunities for the royals.

Why not puppet …. now that the process of asking the King to approve/appoint a PM is already a puppet in the making. Anal-war will be hawkish towards the royals if he have bigger power

Cause royals alone cannot help secure majority support for a puppet PM. Even jib kor being seen to be very friendly with the royals, he ish not a puppet of them as majority of his supports are from the UMNO lead BN at that time, not from the royals. Thus if the royals do it too blatantly without their own majority support, may result in oppositions from various parties and even people going protest and riots, later steal cheekon fail and lose their rice instead.

So the king approval\appointment of the PM ish more of a ceremony role. He still have to considered the majority support to appoint someone acceptable to the masses and cannot suka suka pick one ah cat ah dog.

That was Jippie. have billions to play with, so he has "supporters". With Anal-war, he no money, no clear majority, anytime kenna "vote of no confident" … all these plays nicely to the Royals hand.
The Royal are extremely popular with the Malays and as of now the government is very weak.  Best time to install a puppet …. and its not Anal-war.
Its in the royal interest to see a weak government.

He is popular but perhaps not the most popular Malay leader.
It is the DAP ethnic Chinese supporters that make him looks very strong.

There are few other Malay candidates that can compete with him.
